You can see the strips of steel stretching into the distance, cutting across the city flawlessly, and you think that they might even reach all the way to New York or Chicago.
I've learned to admire the stark emptiness of large-scale urban development. There is so much wasted space in the city that it would almost be a shame if it weren't so perplexing and ultimately ignored by most people. From the Wal-Mart at Namur Metro to the hippodrome and all the way to Place Vertu there is nothing but office parks, empty lots, and bleak industrial facilities punctuated occasionally by quiet suburban clusters. It's an interesting bike ride and makes for very interesting photography.
